Clarence H. Bundrock's Obituary
Clarence H. (Bunny) Bundrock, World War II veteran, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on the morning of July 4, 2009. Born April 9, 1917 in Waubay, South Dakota to Henry and Anna Bundrock, he was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters. Bunny came to Tacoma in World War II as a skipper of the crash boat (P-16) stationed at Point Defiance Boathouse Pavilion. There he met and married Roberta O'Leary Bundrock, the love of his life. He left her four days shy of their 65th wedding anniversary, but his last words to her were, -Å"I have always loved you-. They had two daughters, Shirley Prather (Bill) and Diane Bundrock King (Gary), two grandsons, Dan Prather (Tiffany) and David Prather, and two great-granddaughters Mackenzie and Alexis Prather.
After the war in 1945, Bunny began working for the Metropolitan Park District at Point Defiance Boathouse, and eventually became manager. He loved to camp with his family, hunt and fish. He served as a school board member for the Ruston K-8 School district and attended Zion Lutheran Church. In 1972, Bunny retired from the boathouse after 30 years of service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Eidal and all of the fabulous nurses and staff at Allenmore Hospital who helped him and our family during his final week. There will be a graveside memorial at Mt. View Memorial Park on Friday, July 10th at 11:30 A.M. Please sign the online guestbook at www.mountainviewtacoma.com.
