I had the privilege of working with Scott at Haggen on two different occasions. During my first time there, I often saw him around the store, and he immediately stood out as one of the kindest and most genuine people I’d ever met. He always took the time to stop, smile, and ask how you were doing—never in a rushed way, but with real care and interest. Scott had such a big heart and made everyone around him feel seen, valued, and appreciated.
When I returned to Haggen the second time, I was lucky enough to have Scott as my manager at the Starbucks. Over time, we grew close, and he became somewhat of a fatherly figure to me. He always expressed how proud he was that I was on the path to becoming a nurse and would often mention how his daughter was a nurse too. It was clear how proud he was of her, and I could feel how much he genuinely cared about my own journey as well.
His warmth, positivity, and that contagious smile could brighten anyone’s day. He treated both customers and employees with love, patience, and respect, creating an environment where people truly wanted to be.
I’ll forever miss hearing his cheerful “What’s up, bro?” every time I walked into the store. Scott’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of everyone who knew him. I am truly heartbroken by his loss and will always be grateful for the kindness, guidance, and laughter he shared. He will be deeply missed by me and by the entire community he touched.
