I met Chieko in the summer of 1977 as part of a close relationship with her daughter Rosemary. I had many conversations with Chieko back then and had the pleasure of meeting her once again in Colorado Springs in the early 1990s, where we shared a nice dinner with my wife Lori.
Through those years, I was always impressed by Chieko’s upbeat and cheery nature. For me, she was a very positive role model, a figure of impeccable taste and wisdom. Beyond this, Chieko was a heck of a golfer and bridge player, skills I know brought her much respect among her competitive colleagues.
But for me, Chieko was just a warm and considerate person who cared deeply for her family. Throughout her life, I know she must have been happy about what Rosemary has accomplished and the beautiful family that Patrick has raised. I’m sure this must have brought her a great deal of pride.
I lost touch with Chieko over the years but will never forget her positive influence. For me, I’m comforted knowing that the Good Lord takes care of good souls. And I’m hopeful that the divine paths for all of us will ultimately cross at some point again.
