Chester Good, 81, lost his battle with cancer on December 27th 2010, with his loving wife and family by his side in Tacoma, Washington. The memorial service is scheduled for Monday, January 3rd at 2 PM at Mountain View Funeral Ho Read Obituary
I only met Chet one time but I listened to his radio show every week with my family. We were related distantly but when I was a little girl my dad, Howard Good, had a hay ride and Chet sang to us the whole time. This was the most memorable hay ride of my entire childhood. Chester's immediate family would not know me but I attended first grade at Science Point School in Chester Township Ohio with Chester. "We didn't call him Chet then".
We had a cast iron potbellied stove in our one room school house and it had a crack in it. Chester was always worried that the crack would cause a fire so his dad, Henry Good, came to school one warm day and patched the crack. However, the patch didn't last but the stove lasted as long as the school remained open. The school has now been converted into a residence with some semblance of the original school still remaining.
Even though it has been over seventy years since I last saw Chester, I was sorry to hear of his passing.##imported-begin##carol marti stewart##imported-end##

My condolences to Chet's family. As a college student in the early 1950s, I worked several summers at J. S. Yoder & Son greenhouse, and remember when Chet would take off from work so he could to go to radio station WWST. Carolyn and Family - BettyAnn and I were so saddened to hear of Chet's passing. I remember our many years together at WGNA and the time you and Chet, with kids and guitar, came to our house in the country and sang the old country songs. I still have one of Chet's 45s on the jukebox and often BettyAnn has recalled your singing so beautifully "Walk Through This World With Me." I have it all on tape! While our families haven't interacted for many years, we have recently become reacquainted with Pam (and Larry) Way. We extend our sincere sympathies to the family upon the passing of Chet last week.
Since he was more than 20 years older than I am, my recollection of him involves his music program on the radio Saturday mornings in Wooster, Ohio, that we listened to almost every week while I was growing up.
