Cheryl Denise Stacy's Obituary
Cheryl Denise Stacy, daughter of Dennis Adler and Diane Burke, was born August 2nd, 1957 in Tacoma, Washington. After a twenty-year battle against cancer, she passed the morning of October 15th, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family and close friends in her Port Orchard home.
Cheryl traveled to study abroad in Germany during her junior year of high school and graduated in 1975 as one of the top twenty academic students from Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma, Washington. She then attended one year of college at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington before settling down and marrying her high school friend, Mark Stacy. Shortly after, she started her career in telecommunications with Qwest-Centurylink where she worked thirty-four years before retiring.
Cheryl was an explorer, whether it be a vacation, a treasure hunt at a local garage sale or a creative project, she was always up for something new. Being outdoors was her first choice and taking pictures of beautiful things in nature was something she looked forward to. She often said she would have loved to be on the television show Survivor. Her love for Geo Caching took her numerous places, even as far as Bavaria, Germany and a spur of the moment hike or kayak trip with her sons was something she wouldn't ever pass up. As an avid traveler she would capture every gorgeous view she came across in photos and couldn't wait to share all that she had experienced. Cheryl’s worldly adventures were enjoyed with close family and great friends, always planning ahead for something to look forward to in the future.
Second best to traveling, Cheryl loved to explore garage sales! Everyone knew if she was out and about on a Saturday, she was going to find that one thing you had told her about weeks ago or even something that you didn't, but she knew you could use. One thing that she was always looking for was something to create. She would scrapbook, make jewelry, use her stamps to make personal greeting cards for every occasion and most recently, painting rocks. Her talents were endless and she could do anything she put her mind to.
When Cheryl wasn’t exploring, she was working. Cheryl was one of the hardest working women most have ever met. She would work all day and still find time to raise three children, care for her house, cook for anyone that was hungry and work in the yard. Gardening in the flower beds was something she took pleasure in. Most days you could find her sitting on her swing watching the birds and squirrels and enjoying the beauty around her while dreaming of her next great adventure.
Cheryl’s beautiful smile and contagious laugh would light up the room while brightening your day. You knew you had a friend in her from the moment you met because she always saw the best in people and continuously gave unconditional love, respect and support. Our hearts ache as we lay Cheryl to rest, but we ask that anytime you are out exploring, take a picture of the scenery and remember the beauty that is Cheryl Denise Stacy, daughter, mother, sister and friend.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, Dennis Adler; however, her love and legacy lives on with her three children; Chandra Howard, Brandon Stacy and Austin Stacy and seven grandchildren; Quintin, Cooper, Samantha, Brayden, Skyanne, Kinley and Oakley.
