Charlesetta Lambert's Obituary
Charlesetta Lambert was born on July 24, 1934 in Memphis, Tennessee to Bessie L. Claxton and Charles Lambert.
Charlesetta who was affectionately known as Our Mother, Mom, Charlie, Cookie, Sis, Nan and Wop was the third born of 11 brothers and sisters.
The Family moved to Seattle Washington, where she attended Cleveland High School, worked and gave birth to 7 children. Charlesetta moved to Oakland, California in 1964, gave birth to her last two children and worked in the Oakland Public School System for 21 years as an Instructional Assistant.
Her journey with our Lord Jesus Christ began when she was baptized and received his Holy Spirit. She worked 50 years gathering and caring for the Lords lost and wandering sheep.
Charlesetta provided a home, hope, love and a bright future to more than twenty-five foster children, and became the legal guardian to Latasha Thomas and April Reddick. She dedicated her life to helping others and giving of her time, treasures, talents and most of all she unselfishly gave herself to all God’s Children.
One of Charlesetta’s many passions was to cook, she loved to be in the kitchen and provide great food for her family and friends. Her turkey and dressing and sweet potato pies would draw family and friends near and far to enjoy her cooking, her food was often imitated but never duplicated because no one could come close to making it like her.
Charlesetta attended the Baptist Church until God called her to join the Elmhurst Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1991.
Charlesetta returned to her beloved Seattle to live and work in 2005. She worked 2 years at Seattle’s Central Senior Center near Lake Washington, again serving others. She united with Emerald City Seventh Day Adventist Church under Pastor Eugene Lewis, served as an Usher. She later joined Bethany Church of Christ Holiness where she remained an active member under the leadership of Pastor Darry Wilmore.
Charlesetta is preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, two sisters Barbara Kennedy and Doris Jean Lambert, Five brothers Edward Lambert, George Lambert, Willie Lambert, James Lott and Henry Lott.
Left to cherish the loving memory of Our Mother: Gloria, (David) Hector, Arrous Lambert, Patricia, (James) Richardson, Charles Lambert, Linda Faye Lambert, Venita, (Curtis) Norman, Catherine Carr, Crystal Nelson, and Patrice, (Joseph) Rodgers. Sisters Mary Steele and Dr. Shirley Perry, Brother David Lott, Aunt Bernice Claxton, sister in laws Sue Lambert and Wanda Faye Lott. Brother in law Robert Steele. Seventeen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
