Charles Dean Thomas Jr.'s Obituary
Charles (Charlie) Dean Thomas, a long-time resident of the Tacoma-Seattle area, left this earth on December 2, 2017. He battled fiercely for ten weeks – his mind alert to the end, but his body failing. Born February 4, 1948, Charlie grew up in a sports environment, playing baseball and basketball all his life, most fondly while his father and family were stationed in Europe. As life moved on, Charlie chose Dodger Blue as his devotion in baseball, and, after graduating from the University of Washington, he dedicated himself to everything Huskies. Charlie enjoyed his later years umpiring both men’s and women’s softball and baseball. Charlie’s career was spent as an accountant, beginning at Weyerhaeuser. Charlie will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Tara and Meghan; sisters Connie, Nancy (Chuck), Tracey, and brother Gary; nephew Michael, nieces Sherry, Angie, Theresa, and Damaris; grandnephews Beau, Nathan, and D’Andre, grandnieces Larissa and Zanesha; nine great-grand nephews and nieces; and three former wives – Anne, Cathy, and Linda. There are countless cousins and friends who were also dearly loved by Charlie. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 1:00pm at Hope Church in Tacoma (158 South 46th Street, 98418).
