Cousin Emmett
Charlie was a great person and a terrific cousin. He was two years older than I am and always looked out for me. In high school we connected often and he took me to outdoor movies at Starlight Theater and we also participated in athletics together in some basketball and baseball games. His Dad, my Uncle Chuck, sold life insurance and his company sponsored athletic events and we shared many athletic events in the Tacoma area. My favorite memory is when we went to McNeil Island to play the prisoners in baseball. Charlie was a terrific athletic and after the game they encouraged Charlie to rob a bank so he could play on their team. We all appreciated the humor of that and enjoyed our experience with these average guys who simply made some wrong decisions in life. Charlie's sense of humor always highlighted events and he was always upbeat, cheerful and enthusiastic. Even in his final days, Charlie remained positive and found humor in the teddy bears I took to him while under medical care. Elvis and Willie, the teddy bears I gave to him, provided great humor for us and he even took them to bingo parties and talked to them to the amusement of mostly elderly women who also loved Charlie for his wit and charm. Charlie will always hold a special place in my heart and I love and cherish all the memories, fun and humor we shared during so many wonderful years!
Thank you Charlie for all the wonderful memories! Love Your Crazy Cousin, Emmett
