Charles Singleton, 86, of Lakewood, born September 4, 1916 in Springdale, AR, passed away Tuesday April 29, 2003, in Lakewood, WA. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Verna of 52 years; his parents, Orlen and Frankie (Quick) Singleton; and one sister, Inez Schuetz, all of Illinois.He served 27 years in the Air Force before retiring. To keep busy he worked at the McChord Officers Club and for 10 years at the Twin Lakes Golf and country club in Federal Way. He also assisted his son, Paul, in starting his Singleton RV Salvage and Sales Business in Rochester, WA.His pastimes were tinkering in his shop with his leather tools, woodwork, working in his garden and reading. His most cherished times were spent with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Silva (Tony); son, Paul Singleton; two sisters, Ruby Hoback (John) of IL; and Lois Thoman (Jim) of TX; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Kueper and Lois Shields; one brother-in-law, Roland W. Plotts; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Private Memorial services were held in the Mt. View Garden Chapel.
