Carol Ashton
Carson hired me as his legal secretary in 1994 following my retirement from state government. He hired my husband, Donald Crouse, back in the 70's as his mechanic to work on heavy equipment. They liked each other immediately. Carson was that kind of man...easy to meet and easy to converse with. I remember other attorneys who said Carson was an attorney's attorney. He was held in very high regard by his colleagues and his clients. When Carson asked me to come to work for him, I told him that I didn't know how to turn on a "computer". He said "oh I am not worried about that"! My first day in the office I started calling friends and asking questions, like how do you turn on a computer....and "then what"? It worked, I learned and he was patient. Before long, his office was organized and running smoothly. What a great experience. I loved it and stayed with him until he retired. I don't ever remember a cross word from that man. He was a brilliant gentle giant who was admired and respected by everyone that knew him or came in contact with him. After I moved to the southern Oregon coast, I kept in contact with him for some time and then one day his phone was no longer in service. I just this evening located Carson's obituary. I regret that I was never able to locate him or visit him later on but I will forever cherish fond memories of Carson F. Eller, Attorney at Law and friend.
