Carolyn Joyce Hall Walker's Obituary
Carolyn Joyce Hall Walker was born in Lebanon, Oregon on December 14, 1947 to Lee Scott Hall and Vivian Larue McLoughlin. Her father was a WWII veteran of the European theater. Her mother worked to support their family after her parents' divorce. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints while she was in high school. She graduated from Ricks College and also attended BYU. She met Gene T. Walker while they both attended Ricks College. They were married in 1969, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2019.
Carolyn and Gene spent most of their married life in St. Charles, Missouri after moving there for work. She enjoyed serving in church, especially as a librarian. She had a passion for reading and for doing genealogy-- hers and others. She had several jobs throughout her life, including professional proofreader and digital color infill specialist for magazines and comic books. She assisted Gene with his tax and accounting business as a book keeper and office manager. She was very creative and artistic and loved reading and music. She enjoyed cats, making quilts, and researching her father’s WWII medical battalion. She loved the ocean and always wanted to move back to the Pacific Northwest.
Carolyn and Gene moved to Tacoma, Washington in 2017 to be closer to family. She passed away after a battle with dementia on Monday, October 19th, 2020.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Gene; their son Jeremy Walker and his wife Chantal; their daughter Erin Walker-Schroeder, her husband Douglas and their children Joshua and Julian; her brother Mark Thomas, his wife Jane and their family; her sister Terri Criblez,
her husband Norm, and their family; and many, many other family and friends. She is very loved and will be missed by many.
Graveside services for family will be held on Saturday, October 24th, 2020 at Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood, Washington. A virtual memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
