Carol A. Foss' Obituary
Carol Ann Foss joined the choir of angels in heaven on January 6, 2019. Born to Adrian and Sadie Breen in Everett, Washington on October 30,1938, Carol knew Jesus at a young age and expressed God's love through music and relationships throughout her whole life. As much as she loved music, Carol also wanted to be a nurse, so after graduating from Everett High School in 1956, she attended Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing earning the nursing diploma in 1959. While still in training, Carol met her husband, Carl, when she played the piano for his solo at First Presbyterian Church. Working as an RN at Tacoma General Hospital over the next 20 years, Carol also played the organ, piano, and directed choir at the Tacoma Christian Reformed Church, all while raising five children. Beginning attendance at Tacoma Life Center Assembly of God in 1978, Carol switched careers from Registered Nurse to Music Teacher and Music Secretary at Life Christian School and Life Center Church in the early ‘80s. Directing hand bell choirs there for many years was one of Carol's favorite musical ventures. Carol also enjoyed playing hand bells with the Tacoma Rainier Ringers. Retiring in 2005, Carol moved to Goldendale, Washington to be near the youngest 3 of her 10 grandchildren. There, she continued her music ministry with piano lessons, choir, hand bells, and publishing flute and piano arrangements. Carol returned to Tacoma in 2013. Carol bravely survived several serious health issues during her lifetime. Dementia however, she did not like very much. But for the last 15 months she lived in Lacey, Washington at Joshua's House Memory Care Home where she received the same, special kind of love and attention that she was known for and poured out to so many others during her life. She will be missed greatly by all of her family, friends, colleagues, and caregivers.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and her sister Aileen. Carol is survived by her sister Ruth, children Randy, Patti (Tim), David (Cindy), Sharon (Kevin), and Dan (Elizabeth); DIL Lisa (Tim); grandchildren Brittani (Ian), Haley (Nick), Daniel (Jeimy), Sabrina (Nick), Lacey (Brandon), Deedra (Steven), Tori, Joel (Nicolle), Andrew, and Luke; great grandchildren Lily, London, Ryker, Liliann, Liam, Steven Jr., Danielle, and Brooks.
