Carl E. Foss' Obituary
CARL E. FOSSCarl E. Foss went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, January 11, 2003, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Carl was born April 20, 1934, in San Francisco, and has lived in Tacoma since 1946. He graduated from Stadium High School and Pacific Lutheran College, attended Fuller Seminary in Pasadena and more recently received his ordination with the Assemblies of God. He served his country with the United States Air Force during and following the Korean War. CarlÂ's love for his Lord and for people, especially those who are in need as described in Matthew 25, led him to his life of service, first in the Washington State and Federal correctional systems, then for many years as founder and director of Â"One to OneÂ" prison ministry.Carl was a member of Life Center where he sang in the choir for many years. From 1987 until 1996 he was the administrator of Life Manor. Recently he established Â"One for One MinistriesÂ" as a Chaplain with the Assemblies of God.Carl is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Carol, children Randy Foss, Patti Hoeks (Tim), David Foss (Cindy), Sharon Gerchak (Kevin), and Danny Foss (Lisa); grandchildren Brittani and Sabrina Hoeks; Haley and Lacey Foss; Daniel, Deedra and Tori Foss; Joel, Andrew, and Luke Gerchak; brothers Bernal Kahrs (Sara), and Deslee Kahrs (Donna).A Memorial Service and celebration of CarlÂ's life will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Life Center, 1717 S. Union, Tacoma, at 1:30 pm. Memorials may be made to Life Center, designated for Â"One for One MinistriesÂ".
