I am a cousin of Carl's, his mother's sister was my mom. I was really close to his mother, so it wasn't surprising to me to see how great a son of hers would turn out to be. Dear Carol and family,
I just learned of Carl's death through a letter from a Tacoma friend. I left Tacoma on the 11th, and didn't get to checking obituaries online for a few days, so missed it. I have been wondering about how he was doing. I remember first meeting Carl in the early 70's through his One to One prison ministry. I was part of a group having services at McNeil. Then through Life Christian School and Life Center over the years got to know him better. I know that even though we are glad for the person to be out of suffering and with the Lord, we miss him so terribly and his death leaves a big hole in the family. I remember losing my dad over 40 years ago, and of course I can understand, Carol, what you are going through. I want you to know that I admired Carl very much, and it was especially fun to see the interplay between the two of you when the bells played at the Manor! Carol, Sharon, Danny and all of the family, my prayers are with you. I know that you have been and continue to be comforted by the God of all comfort. God bless you all.

Words are woefully inadequate to express our sorrow and condolences, however we firmly hold to the unwavering truth that Carl is Home. His ever present smile, his caring spirit and ever listening ear will certainly be missed. What a man... what a blessing. He will always be remembered fondly.

Carl was a man like no other man we've ever known. He would go out of his way to say hello to you. No matter the place, no matter what you or he was doing, he would stop and give you his full attention with a warm greeting. He was truly a real person. He wore no masks. He was genuinely interested in you. We are blessed and touched having known this gentle, loving, humble man. I know this lost is felt deeply far beyond calculation by his family, but he continues to live on in them. I see and feel that same love and humbleness in those he left behind. This godly character of Carl's has made an indelible mark on our lives also, and he will be with us in our hearts and minds forever. Carl, you are unforgettable. Thank you for loving us!
