C. Dwight Robinson's Obituary
C. Dwight Robinson
C. Dwight Robinson joined his Lord and Savior on November 2, 2013. He was born in Tacoma on January 17, 1943 to Otto and Goldene Robinson of Roy WA. He grew up on a farm in rural Roy with his two brothers, Lee and Bill and a sister Lynne. As a child Dwight was an avid reader and would take the bus to downtown Tacoma every Saturday just to go to the library. At an early age he showed a love of music playing both piano and trombone, and he attended numerous Salvation Army band camps.
Dwight graduated Valedictorian from Yelm High School and then went on to attend Seattle Pacific College where he met and married Anne Westmoreland in 1963. They both graduated from Seattle Pacific College with teaching degrees, and then drove their VW Bus up the Alcan Highway to teach school in Sitka, Alaska. When they returned to Washington they taught in several districts. Dwight completed his Master’s Degree from SPU, then his PhD from Walden University. He taught in several community colleges and then supervised student teachers from Western Washington University for 15 years. He was active in the Salvation Army, worked at several youth camps, and worked in several areas of ministry in the Lord’s work, following God’s leading in his life. He was a member of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church for many years and taught adult Sunday school classes.
Photography was a great joy to him, and he shared his pictures with those around him. Dwight was a gifted writer and authored many poems which were often inspired by his friends, family, and people he would meet along the way in his travels. He published articles in magazines concerning tug boats, canoes in Canada, early radio, feeding the homeless in Renton, and devotionals. Dwight and Anne built a life together filled with love and devoted to serving their Savior and caring for those in need. This September Dwight and Anne celebrated 50 years of marriage. Dwight took great joy in being the father of his two girls, Papa to his grandchildren and mentor for the other children he cared for along the way. Dwight is survived by his sister Lynne Aldrich, his wife Anne, daughters Lynne (Louis) Green, Annemarie (Ken) Solbrack, grandchildren: Heather, Shane and Salena, and great-granddaughter Lynae.
