I met Byron as I entered Bryant Jr. High School, and from the get go he was a memorable character with a great sense of humor and an unmistakable laugh. We used to play a lot of pick-up hockey at Martin Luther King Jr. park near our homes. Byron made my time at Central High School a bit more fun that it might have been. I was the trainer for the Hockey team and Byron would pick me up for practices and games in his 1961 Chevrolet. When Byron contacted me on Facebook I reminded him of the day that he played a game and we stayed and watched another. Little did he know but he had left the car running and locked so Steve had to come to the rescue. The last time I spent with Byron was the night of our senior party. As night became early morning we wound up sitting on swing sets at a park that overlooked Lake Harriet musing on the futures before us. Very peaceful and genuine and with Byron that was what you would get a genuine human being. I am sad to hear of his passing yet I know he no longer is in pain know that I will keep Byron and all of his family in my prayers, Rest In Peace Byron!
