Braxton Gene Rawls Sr.'s Obituary
Braxton “Gene” Rawls Sr. passed away on April 20th at his home in Tacoma. Gene was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma on May 2, 1935 to Jesse and Mary (Shores) Rawls. After meeting his sweetheart, Bonnie they moved to Tacoma, WA where he was employed as a mill worker for St. Regis. After his retirement, he spent most of his time with family and friends always supporting those around him. He never met a stranger he didn’t like and always had a bright smile that would make your day.
Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bonnie Rawls, his children, Braxton Jr. (Patty), Rick, Annette (Patrick) Taylor and Jeff. Seven grandchildren Breyan (Eric) Dobner, Val Roy, Stephanie (Justin) Hite, Braxton Rawls III, and Sara (Jesse) Nelson, Virgil Brown and Stefanie Brown. His eight great grandchildren Sophia, Jackson, Maycie, Joey, Serenity, Braxton, Jaxsun and Shyanne. His sister Jeri Bruce, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who he loved very much. He is proceeded in death by his son Terry Rawls, his brothers Ray, Troy, Burl, Doyle, Dewitt, Dennis Rawls and sister Ruth Wilson.
A celebration of life for Gene will be held at 4 p.m. on May 10th, 2019 at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Celebration of Life Center.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at alzfdn.org
