Betty K. Torgrimson's Obituary
Born October 5, 1925, the fifth of 9 kids to a poor family on the wrong side of the tracks in Billings, Montana, Betty Kathleen Maynard Torgrimson went on to live the American Dream. She graduated from Billings Senior High School and met her best friend Henry (Hank) while working at the Billings Laundry. Betty and Hank were married and moved to Tacoma, Washington. Hank, a WWII vet, worked hard to become an electrician and with the help of friends, built their country home in Puyallup. Betty was a hard worker, taking Dale and Carol to work in the berry fields in the summer. She picked tulips and worked as a school lunch lady. She volunteered at church and the Food Bank and loved having friends and family over for potluck dinners and picnics. Betty and Hank were world travelers and in the 1970’s took a trip around the world. She enjoyed organizing trips and cruises for family and friends. She was the best mom and adored and was adored by her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was so much fun, loved to laugh, be busy and on the go. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry, her parents James and Lillian Klenck Maynard, her 8 siblings – Marjorie, Ruth, Esther, Gwen, Jimmy, Christy, Hank and Frankie, and countless other family and friends. She is greatly missed by her son Dale (Katie), daughter Carol (Jeff), Grandkids Emily (Victor), Kristi (Mark) and Carl (Erika), great grandkids Tally, Bianca, Ella and Max and other family and friends. Betty passed away April 9, 2023, in Bellingham, Washington at age 97. Her memorial service will be 2 pm July 8th at Puyallup United Methodist Church. She will be interred with Henry at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
