Betty became my second mother in 1981 with my oldest calling her Oma right from the start. She showered her love on my kids like she did her own grandkids. When my own mother died and I was trying to keep it together for my kids she was the shoulder I finally cried on. I wasn't able to get back to Washington much the last 25 years but when we did she always had a warm hug for us all.
