Beryl Christiansen's Obituary
Beryl (Rowland) Christiansen, wife of George Christiansen, from Tacoma Washington peacefully passed away on Dec 30,2023 at the age of 94.
She was born in Ipswich, England, on Oct 15, 1929. Beryl is the daughter of Frederick and Ethel Rowland ( both deceased) and has a sister Joan Rowland (deceased.) A survivor of the World War 2 bombings of England, Beryl graduated from school at age 14 and found work as a window dresser. She also decorated hats.
At age 23 she met George Christiansen while he was stationed in England through the US military. After marrying George , they were stationed through the Air Force in many locations in the United States and England before settling in Tacoma Washington in 1967. Beryl and George were married for 65 years. They were both active in Square and Round Dancing for over 30 years in the United States and England. They were members of the Romin Tacomans Square Dance Club for many years, and were active members at St. Albans Anglican Church.
Beryl was also a talented artist in drawing and painting and loved ceramics. She was very musical although not formally trained. She would play the organ and sing. She loved all sorts of music 🎶 from the Lennon Sisters, Glenn Miller, Jim Reeves, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix,Ozzy Osbourne, and especially Led Zeppelin. Beryl was a member of Retired Wives Club at McChord Air Force Base. Favorite words to say ,”A job worth doing is a job worth doing well”and one word to say to set a feeling for any holiday event …“ atmosphere.”
George and Beryl are reunited now after his passing 6 years ago. Beryl is survived by 3 children, Julie Whitney (Jim), Paul Christiansen (Sheila) , Bryan Christiansen (Monique),2 step children , Darrel Christiansen, Janice Brown, 14 grandchildren and 25 Great grandchildren.
