My dearest aunt,
Such a kind, loving soul. You opened your home to all— and always made it a point to make others feel included and valued. My heart aches knowing our time together on earth has come to an end, but you live on through my memories and love.
My favorite memory of us took place during the younger years of my childhood. Some of the family had gathered together for an afternoon of fun at the Titlow pool. I had forgotten my goggles, and was sad I couldn’t see under the water— you proceeded to teach me how to open my eyes underwater.
You got into the water with me, went underwater and opened your eyes. When you surfaced, you asked if I wanted to try with you. Naturally, I was scared (thinking it would hurt), but I obliged.
When I finally had the guts to open my eyes you were looking back at me. Suddenly, your glasses started to float off your face. We both shot to the surface and started laughing.
To this day I can perfectly picture your face underwater, such a funny and pure moment.
Until we meet again...
All my love,
Mireya
