My deepest sympathy in the loss of your wife, mother and grandmother. I know she will be greatly missed and I will miss hearing from her. I always enjoyed getting her e-mails and had hoped that one day we would get to see each other in person. It seems impossible that we had known each other for over 38 years. I will think of her often and hope that your memories will help you in your time of sorrow.

When in 1967 we moved next door to the Dick and Barbara Bushnell in Torrance we had no way of knowing that our friendship would become so treasured over so many years. We started by waving to baby Carrie, continued by being taught by Barb how to properly cat sit, proceeded to entrusting Carrie to baby sit our children,watched when Carrie and friends left in a limo for their school prom and ended waving good-bye to the newly married Carrie and Alex and then in 1988 to our best neighbors as they departed for Washington. All the while we had experienced the gentle and caring nature of Dick and Barb and it was hard to say good bye to them.
We appreciate how faithful Barb was keeping in touch with us and we feel her passing with great sorrow. We always have the family in our hearts and thoughts and send our sincerest sympathies for their loss. Barb will be greatly missed by us all. We have very fond memories to ease the loss of Barb and wish that Dick, Carrie, Alex and Alyssa and families will find great comfort with their memories.

Most of my memories of Barb was when we were growning up spending Christmas Eve together with all the aunts, uncles and cousins.
More recent after she got a computer we got reacquainted emailing back and forth about her cat my dog and all the flowers and birds in our yards.
Barb was a gentle quiet spirit and I shall miss her deeply.

I grew up with the Bushnell family in Torrance, CA. It seems like just yesturday when Carolyn and I were in the fifth grade having play dates. I will always remember Barbara and how much she loved her cats and her Red VW bug that Carolyn and I use to play in. My deepest sympathy goes out to the whole family. Our prayers are with you. Barb was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. I am so thankful that we were all together at the reunion and that I had seen Barb at Jennifer's wedding as well. She had such a sweet spirit about her. I have memories of Christmas Eve with all the cousins, aunts and uncles which are favorite memories from childhood. My heart is sad and especially touched at the death of my long-time pen pal. I have written to Barbara since we worked together at Frederick Wolfe in Tacoma about 1962. Actually I had only seen her a couple times in all that time but I enjoyed getting her letters and e-mails and Christmas cards. She became a real part of my life being my writing pal.
I am shocked to hear of her passing. I pray that God will be with you all and give you strength and courage and that you will feel His love surround each and every one of you. I'll miss Barb and the special place she held in my life and my heart.
I have many pictures of Carrie and Alyssa as they grew into lovely ladies. The pictures were fun and enjoyable.
I will truly miss her.

I have so many fond memories of growing up being with Barb and her family on Christmas Eve. I so enjoyed seeing her most recently at our little family reunion. She was always so sweet and nice to all. I remember visiting her in California and seeing all her precious cats.
