Barbara Lou Campbell's Obituary
Barbara Lou (Billings) Campbell was called back home. Born June 20, 1929 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She moved to Port Orchard in April 1941 with her parents and brother.Barbara graduated from South Kitsap High School with her high school sweetheart, George W. Campbell. Married for 58 years, they traveled the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and lived there during Lt. Col. CampbellÂ's career. They had one son, Daniel G. Campbell, born in Honolulu, Hawaii.Barbara worked for 2 years in the Bremerton credit office for Sears before starting her career with the telephone company. She retired from AT&T with over 30 years service in Tacoma. She also worked for the telephone company in Sioux Falls, S.D., Columbus, Georgia, Fayetteville, N.C., and Clarksville, Tennessee.Barbara was a kind and gentle lady who loved her husband and son very much. There was much joy and laughter.Barbara was a life member of the telephone company Pioneers, the C.W.A. Union, a life member of the Pierce County Humane Society. She loved animals and was also a volunteer for the Fort Lewis and McChord A.F.B. thrift shops for many years.She attended church regularly and was a member most of her life. She leaves her husband George, son Daniel, grandchildren Jacquelyn and Jacob, her brother Ross, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends throughout the United States. Interment will be at Tahoma National Veterans Cemetery in East King County.Barbara says, Â"Be happy for me, I am with Jesus.Â"The family wishes to thank the compassionate, caring staff of the Hearthside Manor and Madigan Army General Hospital.Honoring BarbaraÂ's wishes, there will be no services.
