Reverend Armen O. Rhoads' Obituary
Armen Oscar Rhoads was born July 15, 1927 in Wabash, Indiana, to Norman and Hazel Rhoads. The Rhoads family lived in the Wabash area during his growing-up years, on a farm outside of Wabash.
Armen’s mother was faithful in attending the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Wabash, taking her children with her. Armen was converted as a young teenager. He soon was enlisted to be the conductor on one of the two church buses that picked up children for Sunday school throughout the town. He continued this ministry until he went to Frankfort Pilgrim College where he studied for the ministry.
Armen was ordained into the ministry in 1967. He began pastoring in 1960 at the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Marysville, Washington. He remained in ministry until 2005, pastoring the Wesleyan Holiness Churches in Tacoma, Washington, Nampa, Idaho and Phoenix, Arizona. Armen is survived by his wife, Rachel, of almost 62 years; his sons, Chris and Steven; and five grand-children: Peter Malone, Bree Austin, Mandy Schaper, Deena Rhoads and Nathan Rhoads. He has eight wonderful great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Neppisee, and a brother, George. His brother Charley preceded him in death. Armen departed this life on February 1, 2014 after a short illness; awaiting in sure and certain anticipation of the resurrection.
