Ann was a colleague of my Whitworth grad husband. She attended our wedding on 12/13/51. Little did I think/know that when I moved to Tacoma 14 years ago, she was a near neighbor. We often shared time and stories.
We also attended the Basketball games at UPS when Whitworth was playing. Alyce Schaffer (Quigley)
Im writing this with a heavy heart today, my sweet friend Karen and I are best friends in Vail.. My favorite stories about Karen's Mom..
1. Ann rode a wave on her husbands shoulders while surfing!!
2. Karen was skiing in Vail with her Mom (not too many years ago) Karen was skiing ahead and was waiting for her Mom to come down.. she couldnt find her! That's because she was standing right next to her. She kept right up with her. Karen and her Mom are both beautiful and graceful skiers. They seemed to be the happiest outdoors... and always up for anything no matter what!
3. Her smile. Her big beautiful unforgettable smile ~
Im sorry Karen and Brian for the loss of your sweet Mom. Im sending all my love and prayers to you from this mountain top today ~
You are very blessed.

I walked past Ann at least thirty times a day, as she watched over the Dean of Students office, and all of the students coming and going who would visit us. The Vietnam war had ended and I remember how patient she was with some of the vets who would visit, and especially some of the characters that are attracted to those like myself, who manage concerts and events…Yep, she could placate everyone from carnies, rock groupies and wannabe promoters, and then turn around and talk about her investment club and whether I should buy Chrysler or PanAm at 31/2. But most of all she loved talking about her lovely daughter Karen and son Brian. I loved her energy, and was always glad to see her briskly walking out and about town. She's part of all of our good memories, and we're going to miss her.
Ann was my secretary in the Biology Department at UPS. She was more than a secretary, she became a friend. Ann talked lovingly of her family, and my wife, Marilyn, and I send our condolances.

I will always remember Ann's quiet grace and beautiful spirit that showed in everything
she did in life, and what a remarkable life she lived.. She gave of herself fully to
anything she choose to do and she always did it with that beautiful smile on her face.
She passed that grace and love on to her children who stayed by her side until it
was her time and honored this wonderful woman.
A life well lived that will carry on with all she has taught us in her gentle way.
Goodbye dear friend.
