Andrew Berthelson's Obituary
Andrew L. Berthelson was born in Glendale, Kansas to Snow Berthelson and Venus Johns. He went to school in Minneapolis, Kansas. Andrew joined the Navy in 1945 and was on the Antiqua at the end of World War II. He served on several aircraft carriers including the Windom Bay. He made a world cruise on the Valley Forge. In 1949 he went to flight training in Pensacola, Florida. He then flew several types of airplanes for the Navy. He was at China Lake, California where he and others performed for President Kennedy. He retired from the Navy in 1973 after serving 28 years. He was married to Martha for 62 years and had three children: Dan, Steven, and Patrica Tinker; five grandchildren: Amanda, Nichols, Andrew R. Berthelson, Alexa Dedden, Clay and Steven Tinker; four great-grandchildren: Addison, Reagen , Ellie, and Emma.
Andrew loved to play golf and was a member at Oakbrook Golf and Country Club, and Navy-Marine in Hawaii. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Andrew passed way on September 11th, 2013 at home after a long fight with lung disease and heart disease.
There will be a celebration of life reception at the RMG Oak Brook Golf at 3:00pm.
