Alta V. Mertens' Obituary
Alta was born August 15, 1913, the youngest of 10 children, and passed away on September 27, 2005. She worked numerous jobs during her life, including as a Rosie the Riveter for the Boeing Company in Cleveland, OH during WWII, as a cryptographer for Western Union and at Ft. Lewis, and retired from the FAA as a teletype operator.She enjoyed gardening, dancing, traveling with her husbands, sewing, and spending time with family and friends.Alta was preceded in death by husbands Kenneth P. Hughes, Zbigniew Wilk and Walter C. Mertens, and daughter Dolores E. Pearson.She is survived by daughter Dorothy Â"JeanÂ" (Warren) Finch, sons Kenneth P. (Joyce) Hughes and Charles L. (Joanne) Wilk, stepdaughter Rachael (Lyle) Orstad, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.Viewing will be from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Friday, September 30, 2005 at Mountain View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 1, 2005 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel.
