Major Allen Shapiro (Ret.)
Age 87 passed away peacefully at Tacoma General Hospital on February 22, 2016.
Al was born November 20, 1928 in New York, NY to Anna (Rapkin) and Harry Shapiro. He married the love of his life, Ina “Mae” Holt on August 15, 1955.
Al served our country proudly as a Marine from 1950-1952 and in the Airforce from 1955 – 1972 where he retired from McChord Airforce Base with the rank of Major.
Al and Mae had two sons; Steven (Nevra) and Harry (Susie), along with Mae’s two previous sons Clair (Marie) and Glen (Dorothy). Al was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife Mae (2001).
In addition to his sons Al is survived by his sister Shirley Brickel (New York), his much loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A “Celebration of his life” will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 1pm at the Mountain View Garden Chapel 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.
Al will be laid to rest with his wife Mae during a private ceremony at Tahoma National cemetery. Those wishing to honor Al’s memory may donate to The American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.
