Alan Stanley Porter's Obituary
Dr. Alan Stanley Porter passed away on Friday, September 26, 2003 following an extended illness. Born on March 16, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Alan was the fourth son of Dr. Ralph Orlando Porter and Vivian Ericson. He graduated from Yale University in 1945 and from the University of Utah College of Medicine in 1949. Dr. Porter was a general practitioner in Redlands, California for twelve years. In 1962 he completed a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Washington and worked at Tacoma General Hospital for the next 15 years. He spent the remainder of his career in anesthesia at St. Joseph and St. Francis Hospitals. He retired from the practice of medicine in 1994. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph Marshall and Charles Van Evan. He is survived by his brothers, Dean Orlando and Gordon Eric; his wife, Sundy, and her son, Darin; and his children, Alan Stanley Pierpoint, Eric Walter Pierpoint, Kathleen (Kim) Louise Liscom, and Susan Marie Porter. He was loved by all of us and his memory will be cherished.A memorial service will be held at 4 P.M., Saturday, October 4, 2003 at the Mt. View Valley Chapel.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary Bridge ChildrenÂ's Hospital, 409 S. J St, Tacoma, WA 98405.
