I was saddened to read in the paper of the passing of the wonderful anesthiologist Dr. Porter. I first met Dr. Porter when I was a new R.N. There was an incident that gave me the great pleasure of meeting Dr. Porter. From that moment on I was touched by his professionalism, the manner in which he treated his patients and most of all his compassion for others. Years later it so happened that Dr. Porter would be my own anesthesist. As he walked into my room a sudden relief of anticipation was removed from my anxieties of the day. I truly, then, realized what a caring, loving person he was. I have a very difficult airway but your father, relative, friend put my mind at ease and step by step he walked me through a difficult situation.
I think of Dr. Porter often and so happy to have had the opportunity to know him personally and professionally. May God bless him and bring peace to all of you, his survivors.
My thoughts are with all of you and please know that there are others who will feel his loss.
