Wanda Rice
February 19, 1929 - April 7, 2022
IN LOVING MEMORY OF WANDA M, RICE Wanda was born in Everett, Washington on February 19, 1929 and walked into the loving arms of the Lord on April 7, 2022 in Tacoma, Washington. Mom loved to sew, crochet, garden, shop, country music and times together with the family. There wasn’t a flower she didn’t like and could tell us without much thought the names of each plant. Mom loved all animals and over her lifetime she had many different kinds of dogs, cats, birds, chickens, rabbits, fish, a goat, ducks and even skunks (de-scented of course). Her raspberry jam was a treasure with the grandchildren ! At least one time or another, we've probably all heard her say, “what took you so long”, “that should have been done yesterday” and similar words! Wanda married Lyal Schlotterbeck and they had two sons, Lyal and Lynn. Wanda helped raise his three children Larry, Leslie and Judy, as well. They were divorced, and in 1968 she married Victor Rice; adding three more girls, Betty, Barbara and Linda to the family. We are sure they were both very happy by this time that all but Lyal and Lynn were grown and away from home! Victor and Wanda’s marriage was a great example of what true love looks like; where you saw one of them the other was close at hand and especially after they retired. Victor passed away in December 2011 and left a huge void in Wanda's life. So, today we are celebrating their belief and hope to be together once again. Wanda is survived by her two sons, Lyal and his wife Susan, Lynn, her brother Del Harrison, her “bonus” sons and daughters, Leslie, Larry, Judy, Barbara Rice-Semple and son in law, Richard Ritthaler, along with many grand, great and great-great grandchildren.
