Sheryl Denise Lindsay nee Austin was born February 8, 1966 to James and Justine Austin. She attended Wainwright Elementary School, and after graduating from the fifth grade, she was promoted to the seventh grade and attended Hunt Jr. High School and then Foss High School. She later completed her GED at Tacoma Community College. Sheryl accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was an active member at St. John Baptist Church in Tacoma, Washington. Sheryl participated in Jack and Jill of America, Inc., a family organization promoting cultural, social, civic and recreational activities to stimulate and expand the mind to enhance life with a stated goal to create a medium of contact for children which would stimulate their growth and development. In 1980, the Tacoma Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. was sponsored by the Seattle Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and voted into the national body at the 42nd National Convention in Houston, Texas. Allen Lindsay and Sheryl married and on August 31, 2001 welcomed Andrew Sean, who proceeded her into Glory at the age of 4 days old. Sheryl enjoyed spending time bowling, skiing, traveling, enjoying new foods, and playing darts. She was affectionately called, “Auntie” by her nieces and nephew, grand-nieces, and great-grandnephew: Malantha (Tone), Mahalia, Adriana, Malachai, Tianna, Tonika, Tony, Tierra and Royal. On the afternoon of Saturday, August 21, 2021, Sheryl passed away at Tacoma General Hospital following an irreparable brain injury brought on by a cardiac arrest. She was preceded in death by Jim and Justine, her loving parents; Verona Adkins, her adoring Aunt; and Andrew, her firstborn son. She is survived by her sister, Marcia Azizi (Akil) and nieces Malantha Tinsley (Tone) and Mahalia Burns; grand nieces, Adriana, Tianna, Tonika, Tony, Tierra; grand-nephew Malachai; and Great-grand-nephew, Royal.
