Rollin Russell Thomas

May 27, 1924 - January 22, 2022

Rollin Russell Thomas died January 22, 2022 at the age of 97. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” ESV (Rev 14:13) Born May 27, 1924 in East Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was the son of Murry Alphious Thomas and Grace Belle Farnsworth Thomas. He had two brothers and one sister all of whom preceded him in death. He married Ethel Lorraine Aakre Thomas May 19, 1944 with whom he had two children. They were married for 33 years before her death in 1977. He later married Cordelia Evelyn Becker Thomas with whom he enjoyed 37 years of marriage before her death in 2015. Rollin was baptized in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Ft Sheridan, IL on May 27, 1956. “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” ESV Acts 2:38p Rollin served in the US Navy during WWII and the US Army during the Korean conflict. He retired from the Army in 1966. Rollin was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church LCMS in Puyallup for over 45 years. Rollin loved his family and will be remembered for his quiet wisdom, enthusiasm for life’s adventures and most importantly his love of Christ. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Thomas Grauer, his son Steven Thomas (Sherri), grandchildren, Mark Grauer (Julia), Dawn Grauer Hooks (Michael), Ryan Grauer (Kristen), Laura Thomas Voges (Tim), Mark Thomas (Carissa), Howard Becker (Jodi), Kathleen Becker, Matthew Becker (Rachel), 19 great grand-children and one great-great-granddaughter. Internment with graveside services will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery on March 11 with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 10333 Bridgeport Way SW, Lakewood, WA.
