Lisa Camille Hansler
May 24, 1964 - February 15, 2022
Lisa Camille Hansler was born to Allen and Bonnie Stakset in Tacoma, Washington on May 24th, 1964 and after a second battle with breast cancer, passed away peacefully in Puyallup on February 15, 2022. Lisa attended Midland elementary, Ford Junior High and then Franklin Pierce High School, graduating in 1982. At the beginning of her senior year in high school she began dating her brother’s best friend, Chris Hansler. Lisa then attended Seattle Pacific University where she studied accounting. After college, Lisa and Chris were married on December 28th, 1985 at the church in which Lisa grew up, Bethany Open Bible church in Tacoma, WA where they were now serving as youth pastors. To this union Lisa and Chris were blessed with three kids, Robert, Johnathan, and Annie. Over the span of their 36 years of marriage Lisa served alongside Chris in ministry at Bethany Open Bible and Church of the Open Bible in Tujunga, CA, as founding pastors of Celebration Center in Puyallup, WA, as founders of Discover Church Planting where Lisa continued to serve on the board, and most recently alongside Chris as the Regional Executive Director of Pacific Open Bible. Lisa played a central role in each of those ministries as a leader and mentor. Lisa worked in her family business, Tacoma Plumbing and Heating for most of the last 37 years as a bookkeeper and also assisted in the management of South End Gardens and Stillwater Apartments. Lisa was a brilliant cook and baker – inheriting those skills from her mom. She loved to travel, especially to sunny locations. She loved to give beautiful things away to family and friends, whether it was one of her skillfully crocheted blankets, or one of the many deals she found in her love for shopping. And Lisa loved being outside on a walk on the trails around her home, or on a hike with her family in the mountains, or on a run which she did diligently even through her battles with cancer. But perhaps Lisa’s greatest gift was the way she genuinely and faithfully loved people. She quietly and without fanfare invested in hundreds of lives, giving of her insight and wisdom, always willing to listen. She accepted people where they were without judgment, but always believing they could be more, do more and go further than they believed themself. And those who knew her well also know she had a wild side that loved to laugh, prank, compete, dance, and have a good time. She loved her Lord Jesus with all of her heart – always praying, learning and daily reading her bible. She loved her husband Chris and they did everything together, whether it was a run to Costco, country line-dancing or serving in ministry. She was fierce in her love and devotion to her kids, always making time for each of them and celebrating with unabated glee every new achievement or adventure. And she loved her mom and dad, her sister and her brother – always so very grateful for their place in her life. Lisa was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Stakset. She leaves behind her children: Robert (Andy) Hansler of Portland, OR; Johnathan (Michelle) Hansler of Everett, WA; and Annie (John) De Leon of Tacoma, WA. She also leaves behind her dad, Allen Stakset; her sister, Tana (Bruce) Columbia; her brother, Todd (Pauli) Stakset and a host of extended family that she loved dearly. A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5 at Celebration Church, 13603 86th Ave E, Puyallup, WA 98373.
