Zora M. Berrens' Obituary
ZORA M. BERRENS of Tacoma died Thursday September 20th at the age of 96. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Susan Dillon, Healani Jacobs, Beverly Heinrich, son David Berrens, 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was born Zora Ubojicich January 8, 1916 in San Francisco, California to Elizabeth and Leo. She met her husband James A. Berrens there in 1942 at a USO dance. He bet his friends that he could get her to dance after she had refused them all. They were married 6 months later. They moved many times during the years because of James' service in the Air Force. After his retirement they settled in Alaska in 1964 where she became an Executive Secretary for the Superintendant of the Anchorage Division of Corrections Correctional Center. Finally retiring in 1979 they moved to Tacoma to be near their family. Zora was a member of AREWS and a avid bowler and bridge player. She always said her greatest accomplishment in life was her children. She was selfless and always put other first. She will be missed.
