Dear Mr. Krick, Nancy, George, and Barbara,
We have rarely seen one another, yet I feel that you are very much a part of my family. Zoa and my mother, Mary Jean Kranenberg Williams, were friends since the ages of 4 or 5. I grew up hearing about the very special relationship Zoa and Mary Jean shared. My mother remembers walking to school with her little sister, Lucille, and stopping by Zoa's house to pick her up. Zoa had a favorite hat that she always wore. I found my "best friend" when I was in the fourth grade, and I always compared that relationship to that of Zoa and Mary Jean!
I remember going to visit the Krick family when I was about 10 years old. I am not completely sure, but I can see in my mind's eye an attractive street lined with neat brick homes. Probably the most memorable part of that visit was following George around and seeing his collection of bottles, full of creatures. I think he was working on reconstructing the skeleton of a past turkey dinner, and planning to do the same for a dead cat. I almost went into medicine myself after that visit, but became a medical social worker instead.
My mother is slowly seeing dear friends and family leave this earth, and she is left with much sadness. She is slowing down herself, but the old memories remain sharp. Zoa will always be a clear and beautiful memory for her.##imported-begin##Diana Williams Blue##imported-end##
