Yvonne Ann Via
After a long battle with breast cancer, Yvonne Via died Sept. 7, 2010 at home with family and the support of Hospice. Yvonne was born in Plymouth, England, U.K., to Clarence and Gwendoline Via. She graduated from Clover Park H.S. 1962, attended Yakima Jr. College, and C.W.S.C. She worked for Boeing Co. in Auburn and Renton and was one of Boeing's first female plant managers, opening what was the new Fredrickson Plant in Pierce County. She retired in 1999 after 30 years with the company. During her life she enjoyed playing women's softball, following the Mariners, various woodworking projects, trying her luck at various casinos, and traveling in her RV with partner Barbara and many friends. She really enjoyed her trips back to England to spend time with family. She volunteered for the Special Olympics, and participated in the Komen and Avon 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. She was always there for family and friends. Yvonne was a kind, loving and generous woman who lived every day to the fullest. She always remembered everyone's birthday, even the youngest of great nieces and nephews. Her family will always hold a special place in their hearts for the loving care she received from Barbara, her devoted partner of 32 years, her niece Karen Hadley, and Hospice Nurse Matt. Yvonne is survived by her partner Barbara Pinney, sister Violet Boe, sister Elaine Bouscher and husband John, brother Eugene Via and partner Valarie Bailie, niece Karen Hadley, husband Mark and daughter Quinna, nephew Ron Boe and partner Lori Kennedy, Brett Boe and wife Nan, niece Holly Gorski and husband Corey, nephew Charlie Via, Kenneth Via and wife Buffy, niece Stephanie Bouscher, Carolynn Rich and huband Jeff . Graveside services will be at: Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood, WA Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 2:30 pm A Celebration of Yvonne's Life will be held following at: King Oscar, 8820 South Hosmer, Tacoma, at 3:00pm Sign the online guest book at www.mountainviewtacoma.com .
