Yonchi Williams' Obituary
Mrs. Yonchi Williams, 83, was called home to be with our Lord on January 13, 2025, in Tacoma, WA surrounded by family.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Williams, Jr; her children Robert (Lisa), Thomas (Karen), Mary (Merrill), Margaret, and Catherine; 15 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her father Chae Kyong Kim, mother Pu Chon Kim, two sisters, one brother, and two grandchildren.
Born on March 16, 1941 in Hiroshima, Japan; the family returned to their home country of South Korea when she was 4 years old where she grew up with two brothers and six sisters. She and Thomas moved to the United States in 1977, to Lacey, WA where she attended cosmetology school to become a hairstylist. in 1979, the family settled in Tacoma, WA where she became a homemaker and raised her family.
Yonchi’s biggest passion was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with them especially her grandchildren attending their sporting events, school activities, or at home singing, dancing, or playing games. She was happy just being among them.
She also loved traveling to see the world through her children’s and grandchildren’s eyes. She was an amazing chef who expressed her love through food. She always wanted to feed you and made sure there was extra for you to take a plate home.
Yonchi welcomed so many people into her heart and home. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visiting hours are January 28, 2025, 4pm – 8pm at Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery. The funeral will be held on January 29, 2025 at 1pm in the Valley Chapel.
