With profound sadness and shattered hearts, the family of Yasminaye "Yazzy" Chantel Broughton announces her sudden and tragic passing on July 5, 2026, at the age of 23.
Born on March 19, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Washington, Yasminaye grew up in the Tacoma area, bringing immense light and vibrant joy to everyone who knew her. Twenty-three years ago, she blessed her family by making her father a dad for the very first time, a role that filled him with boundless pride. Years later, she came to know that same profound joy herself, becoming a mother and being the first to bless her family with the next generation. Yasminaye’s devotion to her beautiful daughter, Yana Boateng, was absolute, and her legacy of love will live on through her forever.
Yasminaye was a pillar of love, warmth, and strength within her family. She was an extraordinary mother, a cherished daughter, a protective and loving sister, and a treasured granddaughter. Her absence leaves a void that words cannot fully measure, and her family remains in deep shock and devastation over a loss that came far too soon.
She is survived and forever missed by her precious daughter, Yana Boateng; her loving parents, her father Charles Broughton and her mother Rachel Slye; and her cherished siblings, Anthony Broughton, Tyara Broughton, Marcellus Broughton, Mekhi Broughton, Christian Slye, and Aiden Simpson. She also leaves behind her grandparents, and countless loved ones and friends who held her dear.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this impossibly difficult time. In honor of Yasminaye’s memory, they gently remind everyone to hold their loved ones a little tighter, hug them a little longer, and never take a single moment for granted.
Funeral arrangements will be shared by the family as they are finalized. Rest in peace, beautiful Yasminaye. You are loved beyond measure.
