Yae Sobie's Obituary
Beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, Yae Sobie passed away at home on July 25, 2025, at the age of 97. Born in Kapowsin, WA, she was the youngest of eight children. During WWII, Yae and her family were incarcerated at Pinedale Assembly Center & Tule Lake War Relocation Center. She and her mother were then sent to Minidoka, another permanent confinement camp in Idaho until the end of the war. Post war she and her parents relocated to St. Louis before returning to Washington State. She met her husband of 54 years in Seattle, and they lived on Army bases around the world. Yae loved traveling, dancing, and bowling, but found the greatest joy in supporting her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, son, and two grandchildren, and was preceded in death by her husband and seven siblings.
