Winnijean Mae Keister's Obituary
Winnijean Mae Keister, 94 of Tacoma WA passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday June 17, 2017. Winnijean was born on October 9, 1922 in LaCrosse WA to her caring parents Otto and Erma (Andrus) Torgeson. She graduated from LaCrosse High School. During the summer she worked as a cook on the farms. She met and married Pete on June 16, 1948 and they had 5 children – Glenna, Denny, Susy, Robert and Rodney.
Pete was in the service. She was an Army wife and got used to moving and lived all over the U.S. and overseas. She loved to bake. She made all our wedding cakes and made cakes for all holidays and birthdays. When Pete retired from the military they moved to Washington state. She finally got to have a home of her own. She joined the AREWS club and a bowling league. She loved to travel, going to Reno, Las Vegas, Atlantic City and going to visit her grandkids and great-grandkids..
Winnijean was preceded in death by her devoted husband Pete who passed in 2004. Winnijean is survived by her loving children including daughter Wendy Stutler of Tacoma, sons Arlie "Dennis" of Moore ID, Robert of Tacoma and Rodney of Sumner. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren (11) and great-grandchildren (29.
Graveside services for Winnijean will be held on Tuesday June 27, 2017 at 1:15/PM at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St. Kent WA 98042. A gathering at the cemetery will begin at 12:45/PM. Family and friends kindly invited.
