Winifred J. Raynor's Obituary
Winifred J. Raynor May 19, 1934 - September 10, 2016
Loving, devoted, compassionate, elegant, graceful, and kind are words that describe our beautiful mother Winifred J. Raynor. Mom was born May 19, 1934 in Upton Kentucky, and she passed away September 10, 2016 in Tacoma Washington. Mom demonstrated her loving and compassionate nature in her personal life as well as in her professional life as a nurse at Western State Hospital. Her family was her priority, and she embraced all those she was related to and those who joined the family through marriages, long term friendships, and people who just needed a helping hand. Her middle name is Joyce, but her nickname is Joy because she brought Joy to her family and all those around her. Mom's hobbies included visiting with family in Washington and Kentucky; she also enjoyed watching "Young and the Restless," gardening, home decorating, and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her father Richard Whalen, Sr. and brothers Phillip and James Whalen. She is survived by son Travis Sr. (Melissa), daughter Deirdre (William Hodge Sr.), grandchildren; Travis Jr., Andre', Sierra, Consuella, Shawnea, and great grandchildren; Darnell, Dominique, Taylor, Terrell, Shelbi, and Travis Joseph (TJ). She is also survived by her mother Ruby Whalen, sister Martha Williams, brothers Richard JR. (Luveida) and Donald (Deborah) Whalen. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mom we love you and will miss you terribly, but we are comforted by the fact that you are in God's care.
We would like to give special thanks to Sheilah Raynor for sitting with mom when needed. Also thank you to Dr. David Kennel and Mark Vance RN for the compassionate care you provided our mother. Thank you to all of our family and friends who have supported us through this difficult time. Celebration of life 11:30 a.m. October 8, 2016 at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, Washington.
The Lord's love never ends; His mercies never stop. They are new each morning. Lamentations: 22-23
