This is to all my beloved brothers, sisters, and cousins,
I have just the very best memories of our cherished mother.
I am so happy that I have had the opportunity to be in our family with her and you.
One of my favorite memories of our family was when we watched Lawrence Welk and Disney together. We would use our imaginations to see what the shapes of the popcorn looked like. We had a good time laughing together.
Another favorite memory was when Winnie and I would play. She was about 4 years old and I was 7. We would play in the vacant lot next to the house. Mother would call us for lunch, and we would pretend that this nice lady didn't notice that we weren't actually her children, because she had so many. That was when we played "orphans". When she had us do the dishes, we played that we could do that to repay her.
I have so many wonderful thoughts and memories of us all and am so thankful to be in our famiy, and to have had the blessing of having Winifred Muriel Thorpe to grow up and be my mother. She helped me to be who I am.
I would be there for the memorial service, if I could. I am not sure if flying will be safe enough for me, with my blood disorder. I will still honor our mother and I can feel her close to me at times, and I love that feeling. She was the best mother I could ever have wanted, and still is!##imported-begin##Mary Christine Bartlett Carleton##imported-end##
