Wilva "Edith" Harron's Obituary
Edith left this life peacefully on August 4, 2015 at the age of 102 years. Born December 2, 1912 in Grundy, Virginia, she moved to Washington with her family in 1914. Her early years were spent in logging camps in southwest Washington, where her dad was a logger and her mom a cook. At a young age, Edith served as a waitress in the log camp cookhouse, leading to many colorful stories shared over the years. After graduating from Centralia High, she married LeRoy Harron, a beloved music teacher. They were wonderful parent to their two children and to extended family members. The family moved to Auburn in 1958, where Edith remained until LeRoy’s death in 1987, finally moving to University Place. Ede loved spending time with family and friends (especially grandkids), playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles and crocheting afghans. The entire family treasured her wit, wisdom and spirit, as she was the matriarch for all. She remained active and played bridge until her hospitalization in July. Edith is legendary for her chocolate chip cookies and her great sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by parents George and Grace Deskins, siblings John Deskins, Edna Rucker, Eileen Gesler, husband LeRoy and son Michael. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Christine Lucey (Robert), grandchildren Patrick, Kimberly, Michael (Kari), Nicholas (Katelyn) and five great grandchildren. Family services will be held at a later date.
