Wilma Louise Howard's Obituary
Wilma Howard, 86, of Tacoma passed away on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Wilma was born in Pleasanton, KS on May 19, 1927 to George and Blanche Archer. Wilma moved to Washington with her family were she later met her husband Wendell Howard. They were married on Oct 14, 1950 in Wapato, WA. They moved to the Puget Sound area were they raised their family. Wilma was a wonderful and loving mother to her four children, Karen, Cindy, Rick and Gary.
Wilma was an incredible example to those who loved her. She had a passion for gardening. She had a great sense of humor. She loved to laugh. She enjoyed baking. And she fiercely loved her family.
Throughout her life, especially most recently as she faced illness, she showed her incredible strength. She faced her challenges head on. She was resilient and resourceful and would always figure out a way to make things work. Her concern was always for the impact on others. Her love and concern for her family was her driving force and it carried her through life’s challenges.
Wilma is preceded in death by her daughter Cindy Sullivan-Howard and her husband Wendell Howard.
She leaves behind her children: Karen Ostliff (Bill); Rick Howard; and Gary Howard (Kristi). She is also survived by her two grandchildren: Joseph Ostliff and Kaitlyn Young.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Wilma’s battle with colon and lung cancer.
