William A. Zindt's Obituary
William A. Zindt, D.C. Bill Zindt a lifelong Tacoma resident, loving husband and father, and well-respected chiropractor died July 8 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was at home surrounded by his family. His integrity and kindness will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Bill was born in Tacoma Nov. 28, 1944 to his parents William and Nora Zindt. He graduated from Lincoln High School where he was known for his athletic prowess and intelligence. Bill passionately followed Lincoln sports all his life. He went on to the University of Washington where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. He subsequently graduated from the Naval Officer Candidate School attaining the rank of Lieutenant (J.G.). He served four years in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy he went on to pursue a career in Chiropractic. He attended Palmer College in Iowa, graduating with a Doctorate. During his time at Palmer he met his future wife Penelope. They were married in 1975. The couple returned to Tacoma and established a practice with Bill's brother John Zindt. Bill was much respected by both his patients and peers. He retired in 2014. Bill loved the outdoors, especially golf, fishing and clam digging. He also enjoyed playing pool with his brother Elks and tending to he and Penny's beautiful house and grounds on Chambers Creek. Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years and their three children, Alex, Heather and Sarah (Taylor Hadley). Also surviving are his brother John, his wife Elaine and their children Stephanie and John. There will be a private family graveside service. The family is inviting Bill's many friends and extended family to join in a celebration of his life at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood Sunday, July 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donating to The American Legion (www.legion.org) or Friends of American Lake Veterans Golf Course (veterangolf.org).
