WILLIAM H WOLF, JR(US AIR FORCE, RETIRED)March 9, 1926- March 19, 2003Bill Wolf left his earthly home to join his devoted wife, Jean, in the house of our Father on March 19, 2003.Bill was born on March 9, 1926 to William Wolf, Sr. and Edith (Owen) Bentley inSpringfield, Ohio. He joined the US Navy in 1944 and served in World War II. Afterleaving the Navy in 1946, he met Sally J (Jean) Finfrock and they were married on July12, 1946. They had one daughter, Janet.In 1948, Bill enlisted in the US Army where he served until 1950. He then joined the USAir Force in 1951 where he completed the remainder of his 22 years of military service.Bill also served during the Korean War and was stationed in such diverse areas as SaudiArabia, Greenland, Okinawa and the Philippines.While in the military, Bill worked as a mechanic on F- 106 aircraft as a member of the 325 Organizational Maintenance Squadron. Upon the arrival of his granddaughter, Jackie, he was presented with a special certificate honoring him as the only grandfather in his squadron. Two and a half years later, grandson Jeff beat his Â"PapaÂ'sÂ" arrival home by just seven days short of BillÂ's retirement.Following his retirement from the Air Force, Bill served as head of security for Weyerhaeuser at their Tacoma Building site. After hanging up his security badge, he went on to enjoy his puzzle books, his cat Â"BabyÂ" and watching old reruns of the Thiee Stooges on TV. He also enjoyed tinkering in his workshop and checking off that long list of books heÂ'd been saving for retirement.Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jean. He is also preceded by his parents, his brother, Leonard Wolf and his sister, Pat (Bentley) Estes. He is survived by his daughter, Jan Rose; his granddaughter, Jackie and husband Rick Green; his grandson, Jeff Schattilly and wife Margaret; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Jessica. Bill will be remembered as a man of integrity and honor who served his country, honored his wife and family, and stood loyally by his friends at all times.Let me soar with eagles toward the sun and the house of my Father Viewing will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2003 from 4 PM Â- 8 PM with a graveside services at 3:30 PM on Monday March 24, 2003 at Mountain View Funeral Home, 584-0252.
