William Robertson Wiggins' Obituary
Sumner, Washington – William R. Wiggins passed away on September 18th, 2022, at the age of 85 from natural causes. He was born in Tacoma General Hospital on October 9th, 1936, from his loving parents William and Jean Wiggins. Bill was raised in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954, and he attended the University of Washington. Bill married Joan, his high school sweetheart, on Valentine’s Day of 1959, and he is celebrated for over 63 years of commitment to his family and loved ones. Bill was also loved and respected by his professional colleagues, and completed over 35 years of service to Nabisco, retiring as Tacoma Branch Manager. Bill is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Terri (and Dale Olson), son Jeff (and Jody), 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren (Amy, Patrick, Clinton, Adam, Andrew, Mackenzie, Savannah, Griffin, Michael, Ryan, Reece, Jadyn, Myia, Kodi, Luca, and Zephyr) He was preceded in death by his son Marc, brother Robert, sister Margaret Donald and his parents.
In April, 1961 Bill was certified as a Master Mason by the Board of Custodians from the Grand Lodge of Washington as the final and highest honor in Freemasonry symbolizing his maturity, wisdom and knowledge. Bill was a Husky fan who was well-known for his unique sense of humor and wit, and he was a formidable opponent to all Jeopardy champions every evening on the television. Bill will be missed for his friendship, laughter and smile by all who were fortunate to know him, and most-remembered by his loved ones as a particularly kind, reliable and responsible husband, father and grandfather who sincerely cared deeply about his family, friends, and community.
A will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 26, at Mountain View Memorial Park in Lakewood, WA. Donations in Bill Wiggins name can be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
