The Haire Family knew Tom Edwards for many years as a logger on the Haire tree farm near Swan Creek Park. Together with his brother Nick, Tom worked tirelessly to thin and improve the Haire forest and, today, the forest is an official wildlife refuge. We are certain that if it were not for Tom's skill in the woods our forest would have never grown healthy enough to qualify as a wildlife refuge. Over the years, Tom became a close friend of the Haire family. We probably spent more time talking with Tom than we spent in the forest. Tom was more than a logger; he was an outstanding communicator and had great skill in making friends. William Haire, Sr. and Tom spent hours discussing their mutual history in the City of Tacoma. Tom also taught Dan Haire the proper and safe manner in which to fell a tree and work in the woods. Once Dan assisted Tom on some legal matters. Tom is remembered as an honest and hard working man with the highest integrity. We have chosen not to attend the funeral because we do not want to disrupt our lasting images and memories of Tom, his chain saw, and our time spent together in the Haire Forest at Swan Creek Park. We will always remember Tom as we walk through the forest. Rest in Peace, Dear Friend.
