William "Santa" Smith's Obituary
William Smith, affectionately known as “Santa” to many, passed away in Tacoma, Washington on September 10, 2025, at the age of 63.
Born in Highland Park, Michigan, William proudly served in the U.S. Army for 12 years. His dedication to service was unwavering, and he would have continued serving if given the chance. After his honorable discharge, he made Washington his home and worked at the Emerald Queen Casino, where he formed countless friendships through his warm and welcoming nature.
William truly embodied the spirit of Santa Claus—not just in appearance, with his signature long white beard, but in heart. He brought joy to children and families as a mall Santa in Bellevue, Kent, and Redmond, becoming a beloved figure in the community. His gentle soul and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him
